watercolor & gouache class section 6:

staying persistent

Section 6 Part 1:

finding and organizing

your inspiration

Now that you know the method for painting, we have to find ways to stay persistent. I’ll walk you through ways to get and say inspired through finding and organizing the artists that make you want to keep painting!

Section 6 Part 2:

studying other artists

I’ll talk through one of the most valuable assignments for you to continue after class, studying the work of other artists. I recommend doing this in your sketchbook, but it is a vital tool for learning how certain processes were achieved.

Will you be able to copy the artist exactly? No, but thats entirely the point. We want to learn from how others paint, and apply it to our own work.

Section 6 part 3:

ending and recap

Here, I’ll recap our time together and remind you how to keep going and stay persistent in your practice!

That’s the end of class!

Want to keep going? Follow the same assignments again from Sections 3, 4, and 5 for another photo. Maybe you only paint in color, maybe you just work in value, and maybe, you draw in your sketchbook for awhile instead!

Regardless of which approach you try, just be mindful of making time for your art and reflect on why you enjoy it. This is what will keep you coming back to the practice again and again!

Want more?! I have this library of Bonus Demos from my in person classes where I showcase things like portrait painting and alternative color charts.

Thank you again for the trust and for joining me along the experience of learning how to paint with watercolor and gouache.

still STUCK

with SOMETHING?

If you are feeling stuck, frustrated, or longing for feedback, you can always book a tutoring session with me. We can work together for one session or over the course of a few months depending on your needs!
