art vlog: building my makers market booth and camping in the sierras

Watch the process of me exploring as an adventure artists and building the booth I’ll be using to sell my work!

I went on a trip! We both extra time off the week of thanksgiving so my partner and I ran off to the mountains. We packed our bags and car up at 7pm the night before, found a cat sitter, and left!

I recently organized and upgraded my car camping gear and we can now leave on a whim without needing to do much planning. I finally traded in our old set of inflatable mattresses for a Japanese Futon. It folds beautifully and doubles as a studio couch when not in use for camping!

On our trip we did 14 miles of hiking, found an incredible blue saly spring, and realized that instant stuffing makes great camping food.

After returning I jumped right into the studio. I made some pieces in Procreate inspired by the trip and made some of my strongest digital work to date. It led to a interview with Manero Brushes and I had these drawings printed on artist cards that I’m excited to start selling at pop-ups.

Speaking of pop-ups, in the video you’re going to see me building my art/craft/makers market shop. I had a budget of $400 to purchase, assemble, build, and prep for markets in the coming year. Luckily I have friends with tools I could borrow, and a lot of experience in retail merchandising that I finally get to use for myself! This whole running my own business thing is terrifying, but it is so much better than doing order pickup at Apple instead of teaching! 🤪
